Today i printed articles on how to get started on Etsy, including setting up shop which is only supposed to take one afternoon, but i don’t know. The whole section about making a banner was confusing and intimidating. I’m not photoshop literate and I don’t care to be. I have my avatar which is a coyote howling at the moon but I can’t figure out how to incorporate him into the bannner. Stay tuned!

I’m going to use this blog to track my efforts at starting up my Etsy store and getting it rolling.
It’s supposed to be so easy but it’s really not. You have to put some thought into what’s your banner and logo will be. how you’ll package items for shipping especially if you want to be successful and keep the store around and profitable.
I’ve been reading Crafty Superstar by Grace Dobush and it’s been really informative about the business of selling your crafts including using Etsy. There’s so many little details to take care of. I’ve sold stuff at craft shows and to co-workers but I never took ther time to establish an identifiable brand which is important.
I’ve been making items to put up on the site and it’s suggested that you have at least 6-8 items to start.
So the past couple of weeks I’ve been crafting. The trick is (at least for me) the item has to be fairly quick to make just because the formula for pricing is so difficult and you don’t want items to be too expensive, but you don’t want to undersell yourself either.
So come with me on this ‘Great Adventure’ known as being serious about starting and running a business in the hopes of one day being able to either work only part time at my day job as a nurse or maybe even not having to work a day job at all.

So besides my site getting hacked now my laptop blew up, which is what I use to blog on. The guy at my office is rescuing as much of my data as he can so hopefully I’ll be up and running soon. I’ve been working on a lot of crafts I want to share so when the dust settles there will be pix and commentary

A New Start

This site was recently hacked and all my data was lost so I’m starting over. It will be about various crafts. I knit, crochet, do bead work, quilt and am always trying new things. In the future I’ll make patterns available, some free, some not, as I’ve been knitting and crocheting a long time and I’ve developed lots of patterns. I especially like quick and easy ones that can be used to make gifts.
Right now I’m crocheting two different sweaters from patterns I used in the 70′s. The classics are still the best sometimes.

I want this to be an interactive site so if you have any questions about how to do crocheting or knitting , ask and I’ll help you out. Share your projects and tips and I’ll share mine.
